QLD:Smothered baby's family want urgent action

The family of a baby who died when her tired mother accidentally smothered her say
Queensland Health isn't responding urgently enough to coronial recommendations.

BELA HEIDRICH was about two hours old when she died at Rockhampton hospital in 2008.

She had been place in bed next to her mother, ZELIA BLOMFIELD, after being breastfed.

One month after the coroner recommended that all Queensland Health birthing services
have a specific policy on bed sharing, the family is frustrated by the lack of action.

Ms BLOMFIELD's lawyer, CHRISTINE MERCER, says the response to date has been inadequate,
with Queensland Health saying they'll only consider the findings.
