May 4--I know, I know. I'm too skeptical -- even cynical -- when it comes to Rio Nuevo.
I am doubtful, in part, because I want Downtown redevelopment to be successful. I worry that Rio Nuevo will fall prey to unfulfilled potential and become Rio Nada.
So when a group of major Tucson business and civic players last week announced they were creating a new organization to boost Rio Nuevo, my skeptical eyes rolled again.
The city already has a Rio Nuevo booster club -- Mayor Bob Walkup, Councilwoman Nina Trasoff, City Manager Mike Hein and Rio Nuevo staffers. Apparently more rah-rah is needed.
