Vic: Gambling prevention scheme not working: Bracks
Key industry players and anti-gambling activists will examine a Victorian governmentreport critical of the industry's self-exclusion scheme for struggling addicts.
Premier STEVE BRACKS says the scheme, which calls on gaming staff to identify and expeladdicts using photographs supplied by the gamblers themselves, is clearly not working.
Mr BRACKS says the scheme has been an industry -- and not a government -- suggestion.
Melbourne's Sunday Herald Sun claims the report into the scheme is highly criticalof the industry's role in policing it.
Mr BRACKS has told reporters it's not something his government wants to do and it'ssomething the industry says they thought would be one of the answers.
But the Premier says the industry scheme is clearly not working.
He says Gaming Minister JOHN PANDAZOPOULOS will examine the report and take it to roundtable discussions for review.
