VIC: Investors beware of overseas promoters calls: ASIC

MELBOURNE, Jan 17 AAP - Australia's corporate watchdog today warned investors to hang up on
any "cold calls" from overseas promoters offering investment opportunities.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) issued the warning after an
increasing number of Australians were being targeted by these groups.
Promoters were gathering substantial information about people's financial affairs and then
ringing them "out of the blue" and offering investment opportunities, most often in alleged
